The Edo State PDP has accused security operatives of attempting to arrest one of its key witnesses ahead of the governorship election tribunal. A video that went viral on Tuesday showed the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and other members intervening to stop the alleged arrest at a hotel conference room where witnesses were preparing for the case.
According to PDP officials, the operatives claimed to be acting on an EFCC investigation but had no warrant or documentation. The party described the incident as intimidation aimed at disrupting their case against the September 21 election results. The state government and EFCC have both denied involvement in the incident.
As the tribunal resumes, the PDP has vowed to challenge the election outcome, alleging irregularities and calling for justice in the matter.
