Archbishop Calls for Comprehensive Corruption Probe: Tinubu Urged to Include Buhari and His Appointees

The Archbishop of Enugu Province and Bishop of Enugu Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has called on President Bola Tinubu not to limit the corruption probe to former CBN Governor Godwin Emefile and former EFCC Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa. He emphasized the need to investigate former President Muhammadu Buhari and other corrupt appointees.

Speaking at the end of the 18th Synod of the diocese, Archbishop Chukwuma reiterated his stance that the Buhari government was the most corrupt Nigeria had ever experienced. He stressed that it would be unfair to single out Emefile and Bawa for corrupt practices while ignoring those who were ultimately responsible for their actions, including Buhari himself.

The cleric further called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and appealed for clemency for Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, who were recently sentenced. He believed that these actions would alleviate the suffering in the South East.

Additionally, Archbishop Chukwuma urged all government officials to reduce the size of their convoys to save resources in the face of high fuel costs.

Overall, the Archbishop’s call highlights the importance of a thorough and inclusive approach to tackling corruption in Nigeria.
