Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Bode George, has cautioned against the collapse of the party’s structure due to internal crises, warning that forming a so-called mega party is not the solution. He criticized the push for a new political alliance ahead of 2027, stating that it is purely driven by personal ambitions rather than a genuine effort to strengthen democracy.
George’s remarks come in response to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who recently defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and invited key opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, to join forces. Speaking on Arise Television, George dismissed the move as a “monumental mistake,” emphasizing that no political party or nation is without internal challenges. According to him, the PDP’s troubles started from poor decisions at the national convention, further worsened by personal interests taking precedence over collective growth.
He also cautioned President Bola Tinubu on the growing tensions in Rivers State, urging him to tread carefully in handling the state of emergency debate. Additionally, he called on the people of Rivers to avoid violence, warning that escalating the crisis would only serve the interests of those who thrive in chaos.
