Patience Eno, born and raised in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, hailed from the culturally rich and oil-producing region of Ikot Akpa Ekop in Mkpat Enin. She was known for her deep-rooted commitment to her community, where values of mutual support and collaboration were cherished. Patience was married to Governor Umo Eno for over 37 years, and together, they raised six children and welcomed nine grandchildren into their family. Her nurturing spirit and devotion to family were central to her life.
Beyond her family, Patience dedicated herself to humanitarian efforts. She founded the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), which provided essential resources such as shelter, food, and education to vulnerable communities in Akwa Ibom. She also spearheaded the ARISE Initiative for the Elderly, supporting hundreds of senior citizens through financial aid and medical care. Her compassion earned her the title “Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom,” meaning “Mother and Strong Pillar of Akwa Ibom.”
Patience’s passing in September 2024 at the age of 57 was a profound loss to the community she served so selflessly. Her legacy lives on through her family and the numerous lives she touched through her work. Patience Eno’s life is a testament to the power of love, service, and compassion.
