In the state’s Ovia North-East Local Government Area’s Okhun Community on Thursday night, three personnel of the Edo State Security Network were shot and killed by unidentified assailants.
Over 10 thugs broke into the neighborhood and shot the victims who were on duty, according to eyewitnesses.
According to some sources, the horrific incident was related to a dispute over community leadership, while others believed it was a cult retaliation strike, City Round learned.
A member of the ESSN who went by the name “commander Small Baba” and had a wound to his right hand said in a viral video that he narrowly avoided being attacked by thugs.
We learned that several thugs were firing randomly in the Okhun village today (Thursday night). As soon as we had the information, we started working.
However, the thugs attacked us. Three of my soldiers were slain as a result. The thugs shot me as well, but I was able to flee, he claimed.
Two people were recently killed in the Okhun community; the incident later turned into a cult fight there. The savage attacks have so far claimed the lives of no less than 10 people.
