Tinubu Administration to Penalize Hospitals Rejecting Emergency Patients

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to take legal action against hospitals refusing emergency treatment to patients. This initiative was disclosed by Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, during the “Unlock Grants Award” event in Abuja on Sunday.

The move follows instructions from the House of Representatives to the Federal Ministry of Health, addressing the issue of hospitals declining treatment to accident or gunshot victims without a police report. In response, Kennedy-Ohanenye stated that federal government hospitals would now display signs reading, “No more rejection of emergency patients.”

Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized the importance of vigilance and collective action, urging Nigerians to continue using social media to highlight and tackle critical issues. She also mentioned the establishment of mobile courts to handle hospitals that refuse emergency care, calling on citizens to support the initiative to ensure no emergency patients are turned away.
