President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Prof. Tunji Olaopa as the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. Alongside Prof. Olaopa, President Tinubu has appointed 11 other individuals to oversee the operations of the country’s civil service, and their tenure is set to commence on November 30, 2023.
This announcement was made by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement titled ‘President Tinubu appoints new Federal Civil Service Commission leadership team.’
The 11 appointees are designated to represent various regions and states:
- Dr. Daudu Jalo, representing Adamawa, Gombe, and Taraba.
- Ms. Gekpe Grace Isu, representing Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
- Dr. Chamberlain Nwele, representing Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu.
- Mr. Rufus Godwins, representing Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa.
- Dr. Adamu Hussein, representing Niger and the FCT (Federal Capital Territory).
- Mr. Aminu Nabegu, representing Jigawa and Kano.
- Ms. Hindatu Abdullahi, representing Kaduna and Katsina.
- Mr. Shehu Aliyu, representing Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
- Ms. Odekunle Aduke, representing Kogi and Kwara.
- Mr. Jide Jimoh, representing Lagos and Ogun.
- Dr. Festus Oyebade, representing Osun and Oyo.
The new leadership team of the Federal Civil Service Commission is expected to begin their duties from November 30, 2023, coinciding with the expiration of the current Federal Civil Service Commission Chairman and membership on November 29, 2023.
President Tinubu has expressed his hopes that the new leadership of the Federal Civil Service Commission will effectively lead the transformation, reorientation, and digitization of the Federal Bureaucracy, fostering growth and development.
