Policies that affect the economy and the well-being of Nigerians need to be handled with haste, attention, and a strong sense of duty, according to President Bola Tinubu.
At a meeting on Thursday in Abuja, the President issued the directive in front of the Head of Service, the Body of Permanent Secretaries, and a few Directors-General of agencies.
Senior civil officers were chastised by him to return to their duties with renewed vigor and to work quickly on citizen welfare issues in order to make life better for Nigerians.
The President issued a warning, stating that inefficiency and needless red tape that postpones economic interventions and initiatives for citizens in need would not be accepted.
He gave instructions that the Head of Service provide a monthly briefing and that reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) be sent to his office for examination.
The president also announced that there would now be quarterly interactive sessions between The Body of Permanent Secretaries and the president.
Additionally, he gave the Body of Permanent Secretaries and the Head of Service orders to regularly track advancement toward implementing his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I want to see progress in the civil service before the next meeting.” I have dispatched individuals to verify the quality of job completed.
“Service to the country comes first and foremost.” We are going to rewrite the history of Nigeria. It is possible for us to alter the way people view Africa, not just Nigeria.
“We may not always get it right, but if we stay focused, I believe we can completely alter and reshape our nation’s trajectory in the right direction,” he remarked.
In order to shape the history of the country, Tinubu advised public officials to always think and act with a generational awareness.
He acknowledged that, in their capacity as the government’s engine room, their decisions would have an impact on over 200 million citizens both domestically and internationally.
“Let’s fulfill the dreams of our kids. Why are we going slower with that? It is not merely deplorable. It is not appropriate. We promised to lift our people out of destitution.
“You shouldn’t make them more susceptible. Assist Nigerians in resolving their issues; do not make matters worse by causing intolerable delays, the President declared.
