President Bola Tinubu has called on All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Oyo State to unite and focus on reclaiming the state from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by the 2027 elections. Speaking at an inaugural lecture in Ibadan honoring former Governor Lam Adesina, Tinubu, represented by Minister Bayo Adelabu, emphasized Adesina’s legacy in advancing democracy and urged APC stakeholders to work together for a progressive future.
Tinubu highlighted Adesina’s commitment to democratic ideals, underscoring the need for unity among progressives in Oyo to honor his legacy. “You all must fight the fight and win the battle… Come 2027, the state must return to the progressive fold,” he said.
Prominent APC figures, including former Governors Adeniyi Adebayo and Kayode Fayemi, were in attendance. Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, represented by Senator Shuaib Salisu, spoke on the need for a re-evaluation of values in Nigeria, promoting integrity over indiscipline and corruption.
