In a recent Facebook post, former lawmaker Shehu Sani has urged for a fair assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s response to the country’s persistent security challenges. Speaking out against what he perceives as regional hypocrisy, Sani highlighted the disparity in the North’s tolerance of insecurity during the past administration and the current vocal criticism under Tinubu’s leadership.

The former senator emphasized that during President Buhari’s eight-year tenure, discussions around security concerns faced resistance, with criticism often met with insults. Sani recounted his own experiences on the Senate floor, where raising issues of kidnappings and killings in the North led to confrontations, even from the Kaduna State Government and the ruling party.
Sani called for introspection within the North, urging a collective effort to find solutions to the region’s security challenges. He cautioned against unrealistic expectations, noting that issues unresolved over eight years cannot be swiftly remedied in six months, even with President Tinubu’s responsibility to address them.
