In his Sunday address to the nation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu outlined several initiatives aimed at enhancing the lives of Nigerians. He announced that ₦45.6 billion has been processed for student loans, urging youths to take advantage of this scheme. Additionally, Tinubu introduced the Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) with over ₦200 billion to help Nigerians acquire essential products without immediate cash payments.
Tinubu highlighted several programs, including the Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDiCE) program, which secured $620 million to create IT and technical jobs. Other initiatives are the Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA), Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA), and National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP). The President also revealed the release of over ₦570 billion to states for livelihood support and announced the construction of MSME hubs, creating 240,000 jobs.
Moreover, Tinubu mentioned the launch of the Renewed Hope City and Estate, aiming to complete 100,000 housing units in three years, and incentives for farmers to boost food production. He also announced the new minimum wage of ₦70,000 per month and plans to drive down prices by removing tariffs on essential items for six months.
