President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his condolences following the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. Findwhosabi News reported that President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian were traveling when their helicopter had a hard landing near Jolfa, close to the Azerbaijan border.
Search and rescue teams had been scouring the area since Sunday afternoon after the helicopter went missing. The wreckage was found early Monday, with state TV confirming President Raisi’s death.
In a statement via his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu conveyed his deep sorrow and extended condolences to the government and people of Iran. He praised President Raisi as a committed leader dedicated to Iran’s progress.
President Tinubu also offered sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the peace, stability, and prosperity of Iran. On behalf of Nigeria, he assured Iran of unwavering support and prayers during this difficult time.
