Tinubu returns to Abuja amid escalating protest over hardship

Following his attendance at the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Heads of State and Government, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has returned home.

Recalls that on February 14, the president left Abuja, Nigeria, and traveled to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, to attend the summit.
On Monday, five days after leaving, Tinubu touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 4:00 p.m. local time.
Leading government figures greeted him, including Bello Matawalle, the minister of state for defense, Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff, George Akume, the secretary to the government of the federation, and Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser.

Reporters indicate that the president arrived back home in the midst of nationwide protests about the dire economic conditions facing the populace.

Recall that irate Nigerians have previously blocked important highways in Otukpo, Benue State, and Ibandan, the capital of Oyo State, demanding that the Federal Government take immediate action to alleviate the situation.
