Tinubu, Shettima Wives Visit Akeredolu’s Family

The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, accompanied by Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, visited the residence of the late former governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday to offer their condolences.

During the visit, Mrs. Tinubu praised the late Akeredolu as a remarkable individual, describing him as a great man. She expressed her condolences, stating, “Nigeria has lost one of her great men.”

Mrs. Tinubu reflected on the impermanence of life, acknowledging that everyone faces health challenges, and it is only by God’s grace that individuals live each day. She commended the late Akeredolu as a brave man who was loved and respected by her family and husband.

“We can only wish that the legacies he left behind could continue and endure. I wish his wife, his children, grandchildren, and the family that God will comfort them and also ease their pains,” she added. “They should live with the fact that the man has done well. He has done well to people, he will be solidly missed, and we pray that his soul rests in perfect peace.”

Rotimi Akeredolu passed away on December 27 at the age of 67 while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer in a German hospital. The acting governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was subsequently sworn in as the substantive governor on the same day, following the demise of the late governor.
