As violence continues in Plateau and Benue states, Nigerians have brought back an old tweet from President Bola Tinubu, where he once criticized former President Goodluck Jonathan over insecurity. The tweet, posted on January 29, 2014, condemned the killing of Christian worshippers and questioned Jonathan’s ability to protect the nation.
Tinubu had said at the time: “The slaughtering of Christian worshippers is strongly condemnable. It calls to question the competence of Jonathan to protect Nigerians.” Now, many Nigerians say the same words apply to Tinubu himself, as killings and attacks continue across the country.
People on social media are calling out the irony, saying the same problems Tinubu complained about in the past are happening under his leadership today. They are questioning whether he is doing any better and demanding stronger action on security.
Netizens Reactions…
@Kanulscursed reacted; “They know how to criticize when they’re not the one ruling.”
@KayMandla said; “Here you are now, as the President, seemingly indifferent to the ongoing rise in the killings of Nigerian citizens. The people should be allowed to arm themselves for self-defense, especially considering your governments failure to address this issue effectively.”
@Timmyklan commented; “Mr president sir, you’re now in that same president Jonathans shoes, please kindly look into your competence.
Think about it…
Thank you.”
@Queenestherose said; “Hello. I’m from the future, the account behind this tweet is now the president and Christians are still being killed in their numbers. The difference is that you cant criticize or condemn if not the government or it’s.”
@gratiaeo said; “Tinubu the worst Nigeria president.”
@Racoon wrote; “Tinubu is the worst and most wicked hypocrite Nigeria has ever had in government. All the evil he opposed he did the worst of them all. From fuel subsidy, economic policies, oppressive polices, approach towards insecurity etc.”
