- Make Big Requests of the Almighty
According to Scripture, our lack often stems from our failure to seek (James 4:2). God anticipates us challenging Him with requests so grand and requiring so much faith that when He answers, we are undeniably convinced it was His doing. While praying for daily sustenance (Matthew 6:11) or blessings for your church and missionaries are valid, seek something specific and seemingly insurmountable on your own. Witnessing God consistently come through in response to audacious requests reinforces the realization that it is no mere coincidence or a result of personal efforts.
Tap into the marvels of God by seeking what only He can achieve (excluding requests like winning the lottery to donate to the church or securing a job promotion for a multi-million-dollar home). Base your requests on God’s will and invoke the name of Jesus, ensuring your petitions align with what His Son would ask for. Request on behalf of Jesus, aiming to bring glory to God. The God of the impossible loves answering significant prayers, and without faith, it is impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11). Build your faith by pleasing His heart through audacious requests.
- Seek Divine Appointments
Each day holds divine appointments for us to fulfill our purpose, impact others eternally, and glorify God—if only we have the eyes to recognize them and the courage to act upon them.
By asking, you become more attuned to recognize these appointments when they present themselves. Every time you seek divine appointments, or the ability to recognize those already before you, God will provide. This conviction aligns with 1 John 5:14-15, assuring us that if we ask according to His will, He hears and answers our requests. Asking for divine appointments—and acting upon them—will fortify your faith.
- Utter His Name
There are moments when we desperately need God, yet find ourselves at a loss for words. Begin by uttering His name, and let your heart’s cry follow. The Scriptures affirm the potency of Jesus’ name, not only because “Salvation is found in no one else” (Acts 4:12) but also because Jesus responds when His beloved call upon Him.
Ancient writers referred to this type of quiet plea as “breath prayers.” Examples of breath prayers to sense His presence include “Jesus, I need You” or “Jesus, give me a heart for You.” Repeatedly invoking His name, as natural as breathing, is one of the simplest ways to feel His presence or remind ourselves of His constant companionship. The most straightforward cries often pierce His heart—and ours—the quickest. Calling on His name and sensing His presence contributes to building our faith.
