A yet-to-be-identified officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has tragically passed away in Lagos. The officer, who was attached to the Lagos Division, reportedly slumped and died at an undisclosed location on Sunday. A viral video circulating online shows his lifeless body surrounded by sympathizers, including police officers, who later discovered his EFCC identity card in his bag.
Confirming the incident, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated, “Yes, the man is our officer. His death is being investigated.” The video revealed voices identifying the officer and emphasizing his role within the EFCC. This loss marks yet another blow to the agency in recent weeks.
Just weeks ago, Assistant Superintendent Aminu Salisu was fatally ambushed during a raid in Onitsha, Anambra State. Despite these setbacks, the EFCC remains resolute in its mission, with Oyewale reiterating the agency’s unwavering commitment to justice for its officers and the fight against crime.
