Tragedy struck during an afternoon prayer at a mosque in Zazzau, resulting in four worshippers losing their lives and seven others sustaining injuries.
According to the Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the incident occurred during the Asr prayer at approximately 4 pm. The unfortunate incident took place as worshippers were observing their prayers.
The Emir shared that there had been prior concerns about a crack in the mosque’s wall, and plans were underway to send a team of civil engineers for repairs. Regrettably, the collapse happened before these repairs could be made.
Expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased, the Emir emphasized safety by temporarily relocating prayers outside the mosque while repairs are carried out.
The Emir has also instructed that a funeral prayer for the deceased will be held at 8.30 pm at the emir’s palace.
The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of regular maintenance and safety precautions in public spaces.
