Tragic Accident Claims Man’s Life in Delta State

A tragic and harrowing incident unfolded along Deco Road in Warri, Delta State on a fateful Wednesday evening when a heavy-duty 12-tyre truck struck down a middle-aged man in front of his residence, leaving him lifeless in the presence of his wife.

According to reports from Findwhosabi Metro, the man and his wife had been returning from an outing in the Okumagba Estate area when they alighted from a commercial tricycle (keke) and were in the process of crossing the road to their residence, situated opposite the bypass. It was during this crossing that the devastating accident occurred.

Witnesses on the scene recounted that the truck driver was navigating the bypass when the left side of the rear tires struck the unsuspecting man. Tragically, the tires rolled over him, shattering his head and upper body.

The aftermath of the accident presented a horrific sight, with the victim’s mangled head and upper body trapped beneath the truck’s tires. A large jack had to be employed to lift the rear of the truck in order to extract the remains of the deceased.

The man’s wife, who had already crossed the road to their residence before the accident, reportedly fainted upon witnessing the gruesome scene. To shield the deceased’s young children from the distressing sight of their father’s lifeless body, they were prevented from witnessing the retrieval.

At the scene of the accident, residents and passers-by were seen discussing the incident, clearly deeply affected by the tragedy.

Delta State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
