Tragic Auto Crash in Lagos Claims Three Lives, Injures 15

A devastating auto crash in Lagos State has left three people dead and 15 others injured. The incident, which involved a commercial bus and a truck, occurred at Gbagada, near the Charlie Boy bus stop on a fateful Saturday.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) made this unfortunate announcement on Sunday through a statement from the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

According to the statement, the accident transpired when a white 18-passenger commercial bus with the registration number JJJ-844YA lost control and collided with a moving truck.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Oke-Osanyintolu, provided details of the incident, stating, “Following a distress call received at 22:01hrs through the agency’s toll-free lines, LASEMA activated the Lagos State Emergency Response Plans with an arrival time of 22:17hrs.”

He continued, “Upon arrival of the agency’s LRT at the scene, it was observed that a white commercial bus lost control and crashed into a moving truck. The 18-passenger commercial bus, with registration number JJJ-844YA and loaded to capacity, was heading to Ajah from Oshodi. It lost control while in motion, rammed into a moving truck from behind, and three people died instantly.”

The tragic accident claimed the lives of two males and one female, all adults, who were involved in the collision. Meanwhile, 15 others sustained various injuries, with seven of them receiving pre-hospital care and being transported to Gbagada General Hospital for further treatment by LASEMA’s paramedics.

The statement also mentioned that the bodies of the three deceased victims have been properly prepared for transfer to the morgue by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU). Additionally, a Light Tow Truck has been deployed to clear the affected vehicles from the road to prevent any further incidents.

The incident received a coordinated response from multiple emergency services, including the LASEMA Response Team, LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Team, Nigeria Police, and Lagos Fire and Rescue Services, all of which were on the scene to manage the situation.
