Only a week following an attack on traders returning from a market in Heipang community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, the assailants have struck again, claiming the lives of two more traders.
Reportedly, the recent victims, all women, were returning from Kinat Community when they fell victim to the bandit attack on Friday evening. Kinat Community is situated in Halle Ward of the neighboring Mangu Local Government Area.
Moses Jat, a trader who managed to escape the attack, confirmed these tragic events to Findwhosabi in Jos on Saturday.
Jat recounted, “Fulani herdsmen attacked some women of Kinat Community who were returning from the market yesterday (Friday) evening. They killed two people, and two others sustained injuries.”
“The injured individuals are currently being treated at the hospital. It’s baffling why these attacks are happening, even targeting traders who were simply returning from the market. Some of us managed to escape by the grace of God.”
Efforts to contact Captain Oya James, the Media Officer for the Military Taskforce responsible for maintaining peace in the state, proved unsuccessful as his phone was switched off. Similarly, attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Alabo Alfred, were in vain as his phone rang unanswered.
