Tribunal: Security forces block roads and search lawyers and others.

Ahead of the presidential election petition court session in Abuja, armed security personnel have established stringent security measures to ensure the safety of the proceedings.

Our correspondent reported the presence of three checkpoints along the route from the Ministry of Finance Headquarters to the court’s entrance. At the entrance gate, a meticulous verification process was in place, with confirmation of the names of accredited lawyers, party representatives, staff, and journalists attending the event. Only individuals on the approved list were permitted entry, and thorough searches were conducted for those granted access.

Within the court premises, security personnel were actively inspecting strategic locations for any potential explosive devices or dangerous weapons. As of now, access to the courtroom itself is restricted.

Wednesday’s tribunal session is poised to deliver a crucial judgment concerning the presidential election petitions filed by President Bola Tinubu’s challengers, including the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

The heightened security measures underscore the significance of the court’s proceedings and the commitment to maintaining a safe environment during this pivotal moment in the nation’s political landscape.
