In a joint operation involving Nigerian Army troops and the Hybrid Force, three suspected Boko Haram terrorists were killed in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. These individuals met their end during offensive operations conducted on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, on Friday, the operation also resulted in the apprehension of five terrorist logistic suppliers who were found in possession of food supplies and money.

The statement provided further details: “In a separate sustained operation to rid the North East of terrorism and insurgency, combined troops of 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison, in conjunction with the Hybrid Force, conducted offensive operations within the general areas of Gobara, Ambaga, and Madachi in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday, 7 September 2023.”

During these operations, the troops successfully neutralized three Boko Haram terrorists and recovered weaponry, including one AK-47 rifle, one Beretta pistol, 17 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a Dane gun.

Additionally, in a different operation conducted by combined troops of 231 Battalion and 331 Artillery Regiment during a stop and search operation along the Biu-Maiduguri Road, five Boko Haram logistics suppliers were intercepted. The troops recovered two vehicles transporting 20 bags of maize, 11 bags of soybeans, 11 bags of biscuits, 14 bags of rice, 46 bags of corn flours, and the sum of N3,186,000. The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with further investigations.

In related efforts to combat criminal activities, troops, in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Tantita operatives, raided and destroyed six illegal oil camps in Imo and Delta states.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian military high command has escalated its efforts to apprehend sponsors and supporters of bandits and terrorists across the country. Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations at Defence Headquarters, stated that these sponsors and collaborators of criminal groups had aligned themselves with the wrong side and were aiding and abetting the nation’s enemies. He emphasized that the fate of these criminals awaited them as well.
