Some hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members who terrorize the country’s southeast have been destroyed by Nigerian Army troops belonging to the 302 Artillery and 14 Field Engineer Regiments.
According to the Nigerian Army’s spokesman, Onyema Nwachukwu, the forces who were carrying out “operation clear terrorists” on Monday, as directed by the military’s high command, took two locally built artillery projectile launchers from the terrorists in addition to other advanced weapons.
Brigadier-General Nwachukwu said, “In the operation, one combatant of the dissident group was arrested and several items, including 48 rounds of NATO 7.62 mm ammunition, four mobile phones, one handheld communication radio, and a substance suspected to be cannabis, among others, were recovered by the troops.”
According to reports, 34 Artillery Brigade soldiers also carried out an aggressive operation against oil thieves in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State on the same day.
The senior military commander reported that the troops removed many items from the camp, including three mobile phones, several connecting hoses and pipelines, one crude oil cooking oven, and three reservoirs.
