Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, a House of Representatives member from Ondo State, has officially resigned from his position in the lower chamber of the National Assembly. Representing the Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency, he was nominated as a minister by President Bola Tinubu.
This resignation occurred shortly before the scheduled swearing-in ceremony for the ministers-designate, set to take place on Monday. His resignation letter, which had already been submitted to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, cited his appointment as a minister in President Tinubu’s administration as the reason for stepping down.
In his resignation letter, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts to enhance the country’s progress and economic growth. He expressed his commitment to contribute his expertise as a technocrat to help achieve these goals in his role as a Federal Republic of Nigeria minister.
Having previously served as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Niger/Delta Affairs during his tenure as a member of the National Assembly from 2019 to 2023, Tunji-Ojo thanked President Tinubu for entrusting him with this new responsibility and pledged to give his best to support the administration’s renewed agenda.
Before his ministerial appointment, Tunji-Ojo had been re-elected for a second term to represent the Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West Federal Constituency in Ondo State.
