The Ekiti State Police Command presented Emmanuel Chukwuebuka (23) and Bayode Olufemi (28) before an Ado Ekiti Magistrate Court on Tuesday, accusing them of theft involving building materials and a generator worth N720,000.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendants allegedly conspired to commit felony on November 12, around 11 am in Ado Ekiti, by stealing items including white cement, cement, 70kg of filler, and a Tiger generator.
Oriyomi outlined the charges, stating, “The offences committed are punishable under Sections 421 and 302 (1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.”
Counsel for the defendants, Adunni Olanipekun, sought bail for her clients, assuring the court that they would not evade justice. She pledged to provide credible sureties.
The magistrate, Mr. Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted bail in the amount of N80,000 to each defendant along with one surety. The case was adjourned to January 17, 2024, for further proceedings.
