Two brothers charged in Kwara with killing their uncle.

The alleged murder of their uncle has brought two children of the same parents before a Kwara State Magistrates’ Court.

The suspects, Musa Idris (25) and Aliyu Idris (20), were charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

They were charged with murdering Mohammed Abubakar, their uncle, in the state’s Kinikini village’s Kaiama Local Government Area.

According to the prosecution, the offenses violated Sections 97 and 221 of the Nigerian Penal Code.

The two suspects allegedly planned to attack their 54-year-old uncle who was attempting to mediate a dispute between them and their father, according to the Police First Information Report.

According to the complaint, the suspects attacked Abubakar when their father was taking his cows to the jungle to graze.
Part of what it said was as follows: “Investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ilorin, revealed that the suspects planned to attack their father due to a minor misunderstanding, which prompted the uncle’s intervention.

The father left his cows to graze and came home after hours to find that his children had killed his younger sibling with a machete.

The suspects admitted to the crime and said that they killed their uncle because they were angry with him for not letting them attack their father.
Gbenga Ayeni, the prosecutor, pleaded with the court to keep the accused people in detention.

After making his decision, Magistrate A. A. Issa remanded the suspects to the Federal Custodial Center in Ilorin and continued the case’s hearing to November 1, 2023.
