Two detained in Lagos estate on suspicion of stealing

Yakubu Ibrahim, 29, and his accomplice were detained by members of the Ilasamaja Police Division in Lagos State on suspicion of breaking into a nearby estate and stealing an air conditioner’s internal unit.

According to information obtained by reporters, the culprit performed the deed early on Wednesday morning.
Ibrahim broke into the estate covertly, unplugged the air conditioner, and attempted to flee with it, but he was apprehended, according to a police source.
It was learned by reporters that the suspect was apprehended by security personnel manning the estate at approximately 5:30 a.m. and then turned over to law enforcement.

Speaking under anonymity, the source stated, “The man had disconnected the AC when he was caught.” He was attempting to leave the estate covertly. He was detained after security gave rise to suspicions.

After being taken into custody and turned over to the authorities, he admitted to robbing the estate of ACs.

The police source went on to say that during questioning, the suspect admitted to having just sold a buyer two additional internal AC units.

Ibrahim admitted to stealing ACs while being questioned by the police. He showed his receiver to the cops.

“Their extra internal air conditioning units were found with Yakubu, who goes by the same last name but says he is unrelated to the accused thief.”

When the reporter called Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the state police, on Sunday, he confirmed the occurrence.
“Our patrol team responded quickly to the distress call that we received in the early hours of Wednesday, reporting that someone had broken into the estate and stolen an air conditioner,” he stated. With the one internal AC unit he had stolen from the estate, the man was taken into custody.

Additionally, he directed the police to the buyer to whom he had been offering a lower price for the stolen air conditioners. Along with three more internal air conditioning units, the accomplice was taken into custody.

“The suspects are being questioned while in the custody of the police.

He declared, “The four internal AC units have been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing to find and apprehend additional accomplices.”
