According to the Ekiti State Police Commander, two people, 33-year-old Azees Agbaye and 45-year-old Alaba Oke, were charged with conspiracy and theft at the Chief Magistrate Court in the Ado Ekiti District.
The accused persons committed the alleged offense on November 15, at approximately 10:10 a.m., at a telecom mast, EK10053C Olat area Adebayo in Ado Ekiti, according to claims made by police prosecutor Celeb Leramo in court on Thursday.
“The defendants did conspire together to commit a felony to wit, stealing,” according to Leramo.
He revealed that the defendants had “stolen 94 litres of diesel oil valued at N232,000, property of Pyramid Risk Management Consult, on the same date, time and place.”
The prosecution further stated that the defendants “did steal cable wire valued at N45,000, from the same company, on November 11, at about 2.30 a.m. in the same place.”
According to Sections 421, 295, and 302 (1)(A) of the Criminal Law Vol. 1, Law of the Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021, the offense committed is against the law and is criminal.
A. V. Ogunjobi, the defendants’ attorney, begged the judge to set bail for his clients, pledging to produce reliable sureties and guaranteeing they wouldn’t breach it.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Saka Afunso, responded by granting the defendants N25,000 bail each with a single surety and postponing the case’s hearing until December 4.
