University of Lagos (UNILAG) students, joined by peers from other universities, staged their second protest within a week on Wednesday, expressing their dissatisfaction with the recently increased tuition fees announced by the school management.
The protesters marched through the streets, demanding that the school authorities reverse the fee hike. They were accompanied by police and security personnel.
Students voiced their determination to continue protesting until the school authorities rolled back the tuition fees, emphasizing that the increase lacked empathy.
They also called on the Federal Government to allocate funds from subsidy removal to education instead of allowing an increase in school fees.
A female student from UNILAG confirmed the protest but noted that the turnout was low, according to our correspondent. In July, UNILAG authorities announced an increase in tuition fees for both new and returning undergraduate students, citing the current economic conditions as the reason for the decision.
