Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar took to his X handle to announce a meeting with the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Monday.
Atiku tweeted, “It was my honour and privilege to host #PeterObi today.”

Similarly, Peter Obi met with former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, and former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, at their homes in Abuja.
In a statement issued by Peter Obi’s Media Outreach spokesman, Yunusa Tanko, it was confirmed that Obi’s visits aimed to express commitment to the peace and progress of Nigeria.
Tanko stated, “His abiding devotion is to the emergence of a Nigeria that works for all its peoples and where the people are quickly pulled out of poverty.”
Tanko further highlighted that the discussions during these visits centered on the state of the nation and strategies to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, particularly the downtrodden.
Background: Peter Obi served as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2019 general elections under the Peoples Democratic Party. However, the duo fell out in 2022, leading to Obi’s exit from the PDP to LP.
