Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged their counterparts in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to make utterances that could agitate the public against the federal government.
Hope Uzodimma, chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, following a demand by the PDP Governors for the APC-led federal government to rise to the occasion and address the country’s worsening economic hardship before it escalates.
Uzodimma emphasized the importance of working together to address the country’s security and economic difficulties rather than criticizing each other.
The PDP governors mourned Nigerians’ current economic difficulties, noting that it was caused by the country’s economic and security challenges.
They also likened Nigeria’s position to Venezuela’s.
In reaction to the PDP governors’ news conference on Monday, Uzodimma stated that it was disloyal for individuals in positions of authority to play the ostrich, encouraging them to recognize President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to find long-term solutions.
He claimed that, while citing a number of economic challenges, the PDP governors’ meeting failed to propose a comprehensive answer.
Uzodimma went on to say: “Ultimately, the decision rests squarely with Nigerians and other organs in the country to ensure that we take actions that will bring relief to all of us.”
He went on to say, “I’m not sure when they started supporting that economic approach, but they’re aware of the cliche that you can’t create an omelette without cracking an egg. We were all aware that the policy would bring some difficulty, but that this would be followed by prosperity.”
