Valuejet Aircraft Incident: NSIB Launches Investigation

The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into an incident involving a Bombardier CRJ-900LR aircraft, bearing Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-BXR, owned by Valuejet Airlines. The event, reported by NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr. James Odaudu, occurred on November 14 at 3:32 pm local time at Port Harcourt International Airport.

The aircraft, carrying 62 passengers and 5 crew members, overshot the runway upon landing from Lagos. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities, and all occupants were safely evacuated with no reported damage to the aircraft.

NSIB has deployed investigators to the scene to determine the immediate and remote causes of the incident. Odaudu urged the public and media to refrain from speculation and to respect the privacy of those involved.
