Journalists Declare Media Blackout on Kano Government Activities
In related news, the Correspondent Chapel of the Kano State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced an immediate boycott of all engagements with the Kano State Government. This decision followed an emergency congress meeting called by the chapel’s chairman, Aminu Ahmed Garko.
The boycott is a response to the ongoing mistreatment of journalists by the Kano State Government and its representatives. Chapel members have accused the government of favoring non-professionals over qualified journalists, leading to strained relations with Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration. The chapel has urged all members to adhere to the directive and participate in the protest against the government’s treatment of journalists.
