“Why I Won’t Support Tinubu as President: Aisha Yesufu”

Social rights activist Aisha Yesufu has stated her reasons for not recognizing Bola Tinubu as her president. She made this statement during a podcast discussion titled ‘The PEPC Judgment: Hopes met or dashed.’ Here are the key points from her statement:

Yesufu, a supporter of the presidential candidate Peter Obi in the just-concluded General Election, voiced her refusal to acknowledge Bola Tinubu as her president.

She alleged that Tinubu rigged his way to victory in the 2023 presidential election and, on that basis, could never be considered her president.

Yesufu referred to this as a “political coup” and emphasized that the mandate of the people had been stolen.

She expressed skepticism about the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) verdict that validated Tinubu’s election, stating that she had observed the court proceedings for over 13 hours and found them questionable.

Yesufu criticized the lack of live broadcasts of the proceedings and the failure to show the faces of the justices during the judgment.

She claimed that the judges appeared biased in favor of the respondents (Tinubu, APC, and VP Kashim Shettima) based on their expressions during the judgment.

Yesufu also suggested that the judiciary was compromised and referenced issues such as the admissibility of card readers in court cases, citing examples from Rivers State.

She praised the vigilance of Nigerians in monitoring the judiciary and ensuring transparency.

In conclusion, Aisha Yesufu explained her refusal to recognize Bola Tinubu as her president, alleging irregularities in the election process and expressing concerns about the judiciary’s impartiality in the matter. She emphasized the importance of citizen vigilance in upholding transparency.
