Wike Grants 3-Month Grace to Undeveloped Land Owners

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has granted a three-month grace period to the owners of 189 undeveloped plots of land in the FCT. During this grace period, they are required to commence development on their properties or risk having their allocation papers revoked.

Mr. Muhammad Sule, the Director of Information and Communication at the FCT Administration, made this announcement in Abuja on Sunday. He clarified that the affected landholders had already obtained building plan approvals but had not initiated any development on the land.

The directive stipulates that these property owners, both individuals and corporate entities, must commence development within the specified three-month period. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of their title documents, in accordance with existing laws.

This grace period is also extended to public institutions that possess land titles within the FCT but have not yet initiated any development. They are advised to begin development within the three-month timeframe to avoid facing the same sanctions.

Sule emphasized that the minister’s decision to offer this grace period to 189 property owners was based on their expressed commitment to development, as demonstrated by their procurement of necessary documents from the FCT Administration.

The FCT Administration encourages all affected property owners and public institutions to take advantage of this opportunity and proceed with the development of their plots in accordance with the terms of their Right-of-Occupancy offer. Failure to comply may lead to the revocation of their land titles.
