Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has taken a swipe at his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, questioning his chances of success in office. Addressing supporters in Rivers State, Wike claimed Fubara had surrounded himself with individuals he previously rejected for lacking the state’s best interests. He further likened the governor’s struggles to being “down 2-0,” referencing recent Supreme Court rulings against him.
In response, Rivers State Secretary to the Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, defended Fubara’s leadership, warning that his calm approach should not be mistaken for weakness. He dismissed criticisms of his role in the administration, particularly regarding a letter inviting lawmakers for discussions with the governor, which Wike had called “useless.”
Danagogo maintained that Fubara remains focused on governance despite mounting political tension, citing the closure of the state assembly complex as an example of the challenges the governor continues to face.
