Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has surpassed Nigerian Football icon Jay-Jay Okocha’s Premier League assist record.
Ndidi played a pivotal role in Leicester City’s hard-fought 2-2 draw against Crystal palace in the Premier League.
The midfielder has been an integral part of Leicester‘s success, contributing to their return to the Premier League and continuing his strong form as they aim to stay clear of relegation.
Ndidi has now exceeded the assist total of Legendary Nigerian playmaker Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha, who recorded 10 assists during his Premier League career.
The 27-year-old notched 2 assists in the match against Crystal Palace, bringing his Premier League assist tally to 12.
The Nigerian international was instrumental in both of Leicester’s goals, spearheading their impressive play against Crystal Palace.
According to Soccernet, Okocha played 125 Premier League games for Bolton Wanderers, scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists before leaving England.
With this achievement, Ndidi surpasses Okocha’s record and moves closer to Pete Odemwingie and Victor Anichebe, though Kanu Nwankwo still holds the top spot for Premier League assists by a Nigerian player with 33.
