Woman Arrested for Threatening Suicide After Election Verdict in Kano

The Department of State Security (DSS) has apprehended a 23-year-old woman, Fildausi Ahamadu, for allegedly making threats of suicide against individuals she held responsible for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, at the election petitions tribunal in Kano State.

A reliable source within the DSS, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the arrest of Ahamadu. In a viral video clip circulated within the city, she claimed to be a supporter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Governor Abba Yusuf. In the clip, Ahamadu could be heard in Hausa language directing threats at the lead judge in the tribunal, warning that she wouldn’t hesitate to commit suicide with a bomb vest if she encountered the judge anywhere.

She also issued a warning to Nasiru Gawuna, cautioning him not to disclose his location, as she claimed she was prepared to use a bomb vest to carry out a suicide attack.

In the same video, Ahamadu launched verbal attacks on Vice President Kashim Shettima, accusing him of being responsible for the NNPP’s legal challenges in Kano State.

The source disclosed that DSS operatives are actively pursuing Ahamadu’s arrest and will subsequently take her to court. The authorities have taken the threats seriously and consider them a matter of national security.

The incident highlights the need for responsible discourse and the peaceful resolution of disputes in the political landscape, as such threats have the potential to disrupt peace and security in the region.
