The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has issued a strong warning to state governments that fail to implement the new ₦70,000 minimum wage. The union’s President, Shehu Muhammed, made it clear that states refusing to adopt the wage increase would face serious actions from the union.
Muhammed emphasized the importance of adopting the new Minimum Wage structure to improve the living conditions of workers, especially since states are receiving higher allocations from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). He urged states to cut waste and tackle financial leakages, suggesting that income be adjusted in line with inflation rates.
ASCSN’s Secretary General, Joshua Apebo, echoed the call for swift implementation of the new wage, stating that states have no excuse not to act given the recent boost in FAAC allocations. The union, with support from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), is determined to ensure Nigerian workers receive a fair wage.
