Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has denied allegations linking him to the #Endbadgovernance protests sweeping across Nigeria. Some factions have accused Bello of sponsoring these protests, but he claims this is a plot by his enemies to frame him.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by Michael Ohiare, Bello described the allegations as part of a “high-wired plan” by those aiming to discredit him. He called the claims “reckless and irresponsibly malicious” and emphasized his commitment to Nigeria’s unity and prosperity. Bello noted his past efforts in resolving a significant conflict between the North and the South, which averted a major crisis.
The statement highlighted Bello’s consistent support for President Bola Tinubu, particularly during the 2023 presidential election. Bello played a crucial role in overturning the controversial naira redesign policy at the Supreme Court, an intervention that helped stabilize the nation during a critical period. Bello’s media office asserted that these actions demonstrate his patriotism and dedication to Nigeria’s well-being.
