Renowned musician Yemi Alade has shed light on why she often doesn’t receive awards despite her undeniable success and recognition in the music industry.
In a candid interview with WithinNigeria, the ‘Johnny’ singer revealed that one of the reasons she doesn’t clinch awards in Nigeria is because she refuses to comply with organizers’ requests for sexual favors.
According to Alade, many entertainment executives have approached her with promises of better opportunities in exchange for sexual favors. However, she stands firm in her refusal to compromise her integrity.
“There was a time in the industry when everyone wanted to sleep with me… Today, men are the reason I don’t win awards in Nigeria,” Alade stated.
She further expressed that while saying no to such advances may have closed certain doors for her, she remains steadfast in her decision to prioritize her dignity and maintain a loyal fanbase.
