A considerable number of members from the Ijaw Youths Council, alongside numerous Rivers youths, converged at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday to demonstrate their unwavering solidarity with Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
These enthusiastic youths gathered at the entrance of the Government House, where they sang songs of solidarity, affirming their determination to prevent any impeachment from moving forward.
George Benjamin, the Information Officer of the Ijaw Youths Council, Eastern Zone, conveyed the group’s plea for peace in the state. Benjamin strongly criticized the earlier suspension of the House leader, Edison Edison, by certain lawmakers on Monday.
He stated, “All we pray for is peace. If there is indeed a plan to impeach anyone, I condemn the act because Edison, as the leader of the House, has not done anything wrong. So, we are calling for peace and urging dialogue. We stand with the governor, which is why we are here. Let there be peace in Rivers State.”
