155 Stranded Nigerians Return from Libya

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria, has facilitated the repatriation of 155 Nigerian irregular migrants who were stranded in various parts of Libya. The returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos aboard an Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800.

Among the returnees, there were 125 females, 22 males, and eight infants. Upon their arrival, officials from various agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency, Port Health Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, were present to receive them.

The repatriation of irregular migrants from Libya is part of ongoing efforts to assist Nigerian citizens who have found themselves in vulnerable situations abroad and help them return to their home country.
