Akwa Ibom State police have detained 22 individuals in connection with the murder of its personnel, Inspector Usang Egbe, and other victims on Wednesday, as well as cult activities in the state.
SP Odiko Macdon, Police Public Relations Officer for Akwa Ibom State, stated that the arrests, including that of alleged serial murderer Emem Ime Friday, occurred between January 31st and February 2nd, 2024.
Odiko’s statement stated that the “Command will intensify its onslaught against criminal elements in the state and wishes to inform Akwa Ibomites that perpetrators of heinous crimes will be brought to justice.”
“In 2022, he orchestrated the heinous murder of the Inen Clan Youth President, Hezekiah Adaidem, beheaded him, severed his manhood, and fled to Rivers State.” In 2020, he reportedly murdered Ufot Unwana on August 8th, Udeme Unwucha, Okon Ubok Udom on the 16th, and Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James, and Gilbert Akpan on November 24th.
“Also, on 22/1/2024 at about 5:15pm, following actionable intelligence, Operatives of Ika Division arrested Emmanuel Francis Daniel ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Otomo village in Ika LGA, for killing one Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh ‘m’ aged about 58years of Nket Abak village in Ukanafun LGA, the Pastor of Jesus Power Ministry in Ikot Esu village in Ika LGA in Akwa Ibom.
“The culprit, along with others still at large, fatally shot the pastor in the church. An effort is underway to apprehend additional fleeing suspects.
On January 23, 2023, Happiness Isaiah Ekanem ‘f’ and three others from Ikono L.G.A. were arrested for beating and secretly burying Imo Isaiah Ekanem’m’, a 32-year-old resident of the same address. The investigation is still ongoing. The Commissioner of Police is committed to the peace and safety of all Akwa Ibom State residents.
