31 Criminals Arrested in Lagos during Night Raid

The Lagos State Task Force detained 31 suspected criminals in a midnight raid on criminal hideouts in the city over the weekend.

The raid was part of a new tactic called “Operation Flush” by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa.

Owohunwa gave a similar order for them to seek out criminal elements in the state during an earlier meeting with area commanders and their DPOs, as well as heads of tactical units, held at the officers’ mess in GRA, Ikeja.

The suspects were apprehended while loitering in the dark near garages and bus stations in Oshodi, Ilupeju, and Mushin, waiting for Lagosians to prey on.

CSP Shola Jejeloye, the task force’s chairman, stated that raiding black spots and criminal hideouts was an effective policing technique that had generated favorable results over the years.

“We conduct these raids on a regular basis to reduce incidents of traffic robbery, pick pocketing, and purse snatching, which typically occur late at night and early in the morning,” he said. We will conduct additional raids and employ other tactics to ensure that criminal elements have no place in the state.”
