Lagos lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot has returned to Nollywood after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Surulere Constituency I seat ahead of the 2027 general election. Viral photos and videos showed the former lawmaker on a movie set with fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta, exciting fans who welcomed his return to acting after years in politics.
Desmond Elliot lost the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, ending his bid for a fourth term in the Lagos State House of Assembly. The actor’s appearance on a new movie set has sparked anticipation among movie lovers eager to see him back on screen.

Speaking on his political future, Elliot dismissed the idea of switching political parties, insisting he sees no reason to leave President Bola Tinubu for Peter Obi or any other politician. He maintained that leadership is about service, not personal gain, and said his time representing Surulere brought improvements in electricity, healthcare and infrastructure.
