Genevieve Nnaji has opened up about her journey into acting, revealing that she never planned to become an actress.

Speaking during an interview at Cannes 2026, the Nollywood star said she first appeared on television at the age of eight.

According to her, acting “chose” her even though fashion was her first love.

Genevieve also spoke about stereotypes women face in the film industry, stating that women are often labelled “difficult” for being outspoken or confident.

The actress added that not every actor is naturally outgoing, noting that some actors prefer a quiet lifestyle.

She further highlighted the growing number of female filmmakers and the importance of women telling stories from their own perspective.
