Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has fired back at critics who questioned why he is still making music at his age. The debate began after a social media user suggested the former P-Square star should consider retirement, a comment that quickly sparked reactions online.

Media personality Dotun defended the singer, pointing out that several international music stars, including Beyoncé, Shakira and Lionel Richie, remain active performers despite being older. He argued that age should not be used to judge an artiste’s relevance or ability to entertain fans.

Responding to the criticism, Peter Okoye  said critics had moved from attacking his talent to focusing on his age after previous claims failed to gain traction. The singer maintained that his solo career remains one of the best decisions of his life and suggested that some of the criticism comes from fans who are still unhappy about the breakup of P-Square.
