Gunmen attacked and kidnapped a businessman named Sikiru Bosere and one of his employees on Sunday night in the ancient town of Jebba in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
It was learned that the occurrence happened on Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. while they were getting ready to enter their home.
The gunmen abducted Sikiru, a charcoal trader who ships his products to other nations, and Philemon, Sikiru’s helper.
The kidnappers “had set up an ambush around his home in Labour Camp, Jebba and attacked them while his boy was about to open the gate when they arrived,” a source informed Reuters.
“The child made an attempt to flee but was severely battered. Later, through the second gate of the home, the kidnappers led them into the middle of nowhere. As a result of the way they were shooting randomly, no one could approach them.
The second victim was later released as a result of Bosere’s request, one of the charcoal exporter’s guys (name withheld) told our correspondent.
Ajayi Okasanmi, the state police command’s public relations officer, confirmed the event on Monday and mentioned that one of the victims had been saved.
He said that a search and rescue operation had subsequently been started by the police.
“Early this morning, a kidnapping case t was reported. In addition to ongoing efforts to free the remaining victim and possibly apprehend the kidnappers, Okasanmi said that one victim had already been freed.
